Dental Providers

Provide a Dental Home for a Young Child, and You’ll Have a Healthier Patient for Life!

The American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry all recommend that children have a dental home by the age of one year. In Rhode Island, we need more dentists who see children under age three. By choosing to open your practice to very young patients, you have the opportunity to grow your practice, to start a child off on a lifetime of good oral and overall health, and to become a permanent, vital part of that child’s healthcare team.

It’s never too soon for dentists and families to team up—making a child’s teeth a priority from the start.

Consider Becoming an Age One Dental Champion!

The Rhode Island Department of Health's Oral Health Program has created an Age One Dental Champion Directory, to easily find dental providers who have indicated that they work with very young children!

The RI Department of Health and TeethFirst! do not endorse specific dental providers, only that they will accept patients for the age one dental visit.  All dentists are licensed with the state of Rhode Island and volunteered to be an Age One Champion.  Please note that it may take a few phone calls to find a dental provider.

If you are a Rhode Island dental provider who would like to be included, please contact the Oral Health Program, Rhode Island Department of Health, 401-222-7743 or at RIDOH.OralHealth@health.ri.gov.
